Valued Red Cross service introduced during pandemic in Welsh Emergency Departments extended
A service that has been supporting patients and staff at Emergency Departments across Wales since 2018 is set to continue.
The Welsh Government and NHS Wales scheme, delivered by British Red Cross staff and volunteers, has helped almost 390,000 patients since it first started as a three-month pilot in December 2018.
British Red Cross teams provide support in 12 Welsh Emergency Departments, working very closely with NHS staff to prioritise patient pastoral care needs. That could mean sitting with patients and family members while they wait, making sure patients have a drink and something to eat when they need it, or keeping them warm with blankets.
Schedule 2 of the Treasury Laws Amendment (2021 Measures No.1) Bill are unwarranted.
Speaking at the public hearing of the Senate Estimates, Kate Griffiths, executive manager for public policy and advocacy, and Ed John, executive manager for governance and engagement, said ACSI members invested $200 billion in Australian equities.
The changes proposed under Schedule 2 of the bill related to continuous disclosure obligations and ACSI said it did not see any existing problems with current disclosure measures that would necessitate the changes outlined in Schedule 2.

A company selected by the Morrison government for a multimillion-dollar contract to deliver coronavirus vaccine injections to Australia’s most vulnerable has also been one of the biggest health sector donors to the Liberal Party in the past decade.
Sonic Healthcare gave $533,500 to the Liberal Party between 2011 and 2017, with $450,000 of the cash going directly to the federal branch, Australian Electoral Commission records show. Over the same period, it gave in-kind support of $55,000 to Labor.
