Warriors Take Two From Jimmies In Bracket Championship

(jimmiepride.com)– The Midland University Warriors defeated the University of Jamestown softball team 7-5 and 1-0 Thursday afternoon to win the Midland bracket of the GPAC postseason tournament. Jamestown, which won its two opening games on Wednesday, finishes with a record of 34-14. The Warriors took an early 1-0 lead on a double by Kaitlin Anders, but the Jimmies tied the game on Kassi Ward (JR/Olympia, Wash.)’s third-inning double. Roni Foote hit a two-run home run off Kat Miska (JR/Pequot Lakes, Minn.) in the bottom of the fourth to put Midland ahead 3-1, then four straight hits off Miska in the bottom of the fifth led to three runs and a 6-1 lead. The Warriors added another run later in the inning off reliever Lucy Sinkkonen (FR/Cloquet, Minn.) to take 7-1 lead into the sixth.

Jimmie Roundup: March 8th

Friends 11, UJ 8 The Jimmies put up 25 total runs on Friday in routes over Friends University and Bethel College. Jamestown scored four runs in the sixth inning against Friends, and then kept the offense moving in the second game of the day by putting on six runs versus Bethel. Morgan Geiszler had three RBIs against Friends, and Katie Reisdorfer hit a three-run home run to take down Bethel. Kat Miska won two games over the weekend, improving her overall record to 4-1 on the season. Miska had 25 total strikeouts on Friday and Saturday. UJ now sits at 10-4 on the season and will play a doubleheader at Tabor College today starting at 2 pm.

Jimmie Softball Sweeps Weekend Set

GAME ONE: UJ 1, Dickinson State 0 Junior Kat Miska provided more electricity on the rubber in game one against Dickinson State, striking out 18 batters and no-hitting the Blue Hawks. She had already broken the Jimmies record for most strikeouts in a game early this year with 15 against Minnesota-Crookston. Miska now has 43 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched so far, and holds an ERA of 0.35. Katie Reisdorfer provided the only run of the game for Jamestown in the third inning when she hit her first home run of the season. GAME TWO: UJ 14, Dakota State 2 (5 innings) In the second game, the bats exploded for the Jimmies as they picked up 20 total hits in the win over the Trojans. UJ scored five runs in the second inning, and eight runs in the fourth to route Dakota State.

Jimmies Roundup: February 15th

JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown athletics had a busy weekend, with four teams in action. HOCKEY: Jamestown split the two-game series with Midland over the weekend, losing in the first game 8-4 before prevailing 7-3 in game two. In game one, UJ received goals from Reid Wilson, Jordon Kromm, Logan Berggren, and Michael Heitkamp. The goal for Heitkamp was the first of his Jimmies career. In the weekend finale, Kromm and Wilson each tallied another goal in the 7-3 victory. Jamestown also got production from Vladislav Zamzhytski, Aidan Potas, Greg Susinski, and Jake Huculak (2). The Jimmies are now 12-8-4 on the year and host Minot State on February 19th. Kromm leads the team with 22 points this season, and Huculak is in second with 20.

Softball Plays Six In Aberdeen

THE OPPONENTS… Presentation was 1-15 last season and the Saints’ top returning hitter is Skye Carter with a .346 batting average in 2021.  She had nine hits in ten games played. Celia Cerezo returns after batting .214 last season with six hits. Yulissa Pena was 1-4 on the mound with 42 innings pitched and had 22 strikeouts with a 7.61 earned run average. Jamestown was 12-7 last season and return five hitters who posted .392 batting averages or better. Katie Reisdorfer batted .468 with 22 hits and 14 runs batted in. Morgan Geiszler batted .463 last season with 25 hits  and five doubles. Santina Zito batted .443 with six doubles and had two homeruns like Geiszler. Mariah Wick and Kasi Ward batted .407 and .392 last season and Ward clubbed two homeruns. Katie Merchant was 5-2 on the mound with 43 innings pitched and she struck out 35 batters. Ann-Marie Crandlemire was 2-2 in 19 innings pitched.
