Orange County helps veterans

By Olivia Leach Orange County UPDATED 7:32 PM ET Jul. 27, 2021 PUBLISHED 7:07 PM ET Jul. 27, 2021 PUBLISHED 7:07 PM EDT Jul. 27, 2021 SHARE Orange County Deputy County Clerk Kelly Eskew and her team safeguard the military discharge papers and DD214 forms for thousands of Orange County veterans dating all the way back to World War I. It documents their service in the military, whatever branch of service they were in, and it entitles them to benefits, so it s proof they served, said Eskew. The county wants veterans to know that they can file their DD214 forms with the county clerk’s office for free. They can also access certified copies of the form from the clerk s office at no cost.

Newburgh councilman Anthony Grice seeks Orange County office

CITY OF NEWBURGH - Anthony Grice could make history if he is successful in his campaign to become Orange County clerk. Grice, a 53-year-old Newburgh city councilman, would be the first African-American to hold that position. The office has seen 37 clerks since it was established in 1702. But that s not what he wants voters to focus on. That s important. That s significant, Grice said. At the same time, I do not want people to vote for me just because I m the Black guy. He hopes voters focus more on his skills, his vision for the office and ideas for programs. Grice officially announced his intention to run as a Democrat for county clerk on Feb. 12. Grice s wife, who owns a small business in Newburgh, and three sons are deeply involved in what he calls his grassroots  campaign.
