CONTRIBUTED The cast of Landmark Community Theatre’s production of ‘The Sound of Music.’ The show continues at the Thomaston Opera House through Aug. 1. “The Sound of Music” continues through Aug. 1. The beloved musical that was suggested by “The Trapp Family Singers” by Maria Augusta Trapp features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The stage book, written by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, differs slightly from the movie version. The stage version contains songs omitted from the film, and has musical numbers performed in completely different scenes.
