Trial date set for Pulaski man charged with shooting McCreary County deputy

Mark L. Dungan A Pulaski County man accused of shooting a McCreary County deputy sheriff is set to stand trial this January. Mark Lynn Dungan, 50, of Science Hill, appeared in McCreary Circuit Court last week learning his three-day trial will begin on January 19 of next year. Dungan had been scheduled to stand trial last October on charges of Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, first-degree Fleeing or Evading Police (Motor Vehicle), first-degree Wanton Endangerment (Police Officer), first-degree Criminal Mischief, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Resisting Arrest, and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun before the COVID-19 pandemic prompted a halt to in-person court proceedings.

CCSO collecting donations for Summer Camp

The Kentucky Sheriff’s Boys and Girls Ranch Summer Camp is a go this summer and the Christian County Sheriff’s Department is collecting donations for the camp. The Ranch provides a summer experience for children ages 8-11, who might not have the chance to experience a summer camp, explained CCSD Public Information Officer Deputy Chris Miller. At the camp, children get to try new experiences, arts and crafts, swimming and other summer camp activities. The camp is designed to redirect the lives of children by building self esteem, moral character and team them to have self respect as well as law enforcement professionals.
