Undercover investigation leads to arrest

An undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch has led to the arrest of a Radcliff man on multiple charges related to child sexual abuse material. Dennis Monroe Wadzeck, 21, was arrested in Louisville after the KSP Electronic Crime Branch began an investigation after reportedly discovering the suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation online. The investigation resulted in serving an arrest warrant March 27. He initially was held in Jefferson County, according to KSP. Wadzeck is scheduled to appear Friday in Hardin District Court. He is being held on a $10,000 cash bond. Equipment reportedly used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

FRANKFORT — The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch says 2020 was a busy year for them, as they responded to over 3,000 cybercrime tips, leading to 707 completed investigations resulting in 114 arrests of child internet predators. While the investigative unit handles a variety of cybercrimes, they partner with the Kentucky Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to protect the most vulnerable victims, Kentucky’s children. The ICAC Task Force, which includes several law enforcement agencies in the state, has received 3,137 cybercrime tips so far this year. “I want to thank the dedicated detectives and staff of the KSP Electronic Crime Branch and the law enforcement agencies on the ICAC Task Force for being a member of Team Kentucky,” Gov. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police announced Wednesday it assisted in 114 cybercrime arrests in 2020. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch is a team of 16 detectives and nine civilians. In conjunction with the Kentucky Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, it responded to more than 3,000 cybercrime tips leading to 707 completed investigations.
