Dulux dogs AKA Old English Sheepdogs are at risk of becoming extinct

“Old English Sheepdog Puppy” by DavidMartynHunt is licensed with CC BY 2.0. Old English Sheepdogs could be at risk of extinction. Commonly known as the ‘Dulux dogs’, the breed has experienced a sharp decline in popularity recently. Tyla.com report that The Kennel Club has officially classed the breed as ‘vulnerable’. It’s after just 227 puppy registrations in the year of 2020 (the lowest ever number in 60 years). This breed was massively popular among dog owners when they first appeared as the face of paint company, Dulux. However in 2009, the Old English Sheepdog was placed on an ‘at watch’ list. That year, it only recorded between 300-450 registrations per year in the UK.
