One of the benefits of being an acting host during âJeopardy!âsâ current interregnum, is naming a non-profit that will receive funds equal to the combined winnings of three contestants from each show.
The first charity Media native Bill Whitaker thought of when his agent called him âout of the blueâ to tell the â60 Minutesâ contributor he was asked to be an acting host was the Media Fellowship House, a 77-year-old organization with multiple prongs that help people with everything from education to housing.
âI considered splitting the earnings between two groups, the Media Fellowship House, in the town where I lived from early childhood to age 18, and one in Harlem, where I live now, but in thinking more about it, I called the âJeopardy!â producers to make the entire contribution to Media Fellowship House,â Whitaker says during a telephone conversation from his Harlem residence.
