NEW DELHI: The Centre will set off a campaign to step-up vaccination among tribals living in forest areas through an outreach that will focus on busting myths, quelling commonly expressed fears and also facilitate vaccinations.
The nerve centre of all village activity in the tribal belt the weekly “Haat Bazaars” are set to be one of the key focal points of the campaign that will be launched on Thursday starting from Bastar in Chhattisgarh and Mandla in Madhya Pradesh.
Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation (TRIFED) managing director Pravir Krishna said that they have also written to the Union health ministry and the state authorities to facilitate vaccination of tribals as part of this campaign.

The ongoing Aadi Mahotsav at Delhi’s Dilli Haat that showcases the diversity and variety of Indian tribes, providing a peek into the rich tribal culture of the country, is already a grand success with over 2.9 million people having visited the show as of Sunday (7 February 2021).
One striking aspect of Sunday evening’s programme was a spectacular tribal fashion show that featured designs and clothes handcrafted by tribal master craftsmen and curated by the famous tribal artisan Ruma Devi and the renowned fashion designer Rina Dhaka. The resplendent weaves and fabrics came to life in the crafted designs that reflect the close connection tribals have with nature.

The state governments used the scheme as a way to put more money in the hands of the tribals through direct benefit transfers. As per government estimates, minor forest produce worth Rs 948 crore were acquired by state agencies and Rs 3,000 crore by private buyers. Overall, MSP worth Rs 4,000 crore was given in the first collection season by November.
