Iowa Auditor Investigating Overpayment of Election Workers in Scott County | AM 600 WMT

By Jason Taylor May 14, 2021 DES MOINES, Iowa - State Auditor Rob Sand is investigating “potential overpayments” to election workers in eastern Iowa. Sand says former Scott County Auditor Roxanna Moritz may have misused federal money to boost worker pay during a primary election in 2020. Moritz told the Quad-Cities Times that she made a mistake and thought she had the authority to increase pay as a way to attract more poll workers. She resigned her position last month. Sand says the payments could amount to a misuse of Help America Vote Act funds. That money is made available through the Iowa Secretary of State Office, which is assisting with the investigation.
