Friday marks the tenth anniversary of Darlington s FA Trophy success at Wembley, one of the proudest moments in the club s history. In the first part of a four-day series leading up to Friday s anniversary, Craig Stoddart talks to Ian Miller, who skippered Quakers in the final AS the first Darlington captain to lift silverware at Wembley, Ian Miller’s place is assured forever in both the record books and the hearts of the club’s fans. Quakers lost play-off finals at the stadium to Plymouth (1996) and Peterborough (2000) without scoring on either occasion, two tough defeats to take. But after beating Mansfield Town 1-0 in 2011, they watched a historic moment as the skipper led his victorious team-mates up the steps and into the Royal Box to collect the FA Trophy, thrusting it proudly into the air. A proud moment for the club, the fans, and for Miller.

Historic Programmes Up for Auction Tuesday, 2nd May 2017 10:15 Historic Ipswich Town programmes are to again go under the hammer later this month at Martlesham auctioneers Lockdales. “They’ve gone for tip-top prices at previous auctions in our salerooms and competition is going to be hot for them again this time around,” said auction manager James Sadler. Of particular interest is lot 1093 from Town’s home FA Cup first round tie with Western League side Street on November 26th 1938 which has a catalogue guide price of £40 to £50. There will also be strong interest in lot 1094 at the May 20th auction, the programme from the August 1936 Southern League match at home to Tunbridge Wells Rangers, the Blues’ first game as a professional club. This has a guide price of £50 to £60.

A SEARCH for the final resting place in west Wiltshire of former Chelsea FC and England goalkeeper Vic Woodley has ended in success. Following an appeal in the Wiltshire Times, the Chelsea Graves Society has learned that Mr Woodley is buried in an unmarked plot at Westwood Cemetery near Bradford on Avon. Mr Woodley died aged 68 in Bradford on Avon in October 1978. He was a former landlord of the town s Barge Inn. He played in goal for Chelsea Football Club from 1931-1945, and also for the England national team, Derby County FC and Bath City FC during his career. Andrew Rowley, of Chelsea Graves Society, said: Due to your newspaper article we have found Vic s final resting place in Westwood Cemetery.
