A high-speed pursuit Wednesday morning ended with a driver in custody and a passenger briefly detained. It happened at about 8:30 when a state trooper reported that he was chasing a vehicle at about 110 miles per hour westbound on Farm to Market 363 in Newton County and was headed towards the north side of Kirbyville.
Department of Public Safety Sergeant Stephanie Davis later said that it all started when the trooper tried to stop a 2006 Toyota SUV with an expired registration sticker. Davis said the driver turned onto County Road 3066 and then jumped out and fled on foot. He was quickly captured and arrested.
