Gunnedah Shire Council is reminding the community to be vigilant in light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak in Greater Sydney.
On Saturday, June 26, the NSW Government introduced restrictions in regional NSW that are expected to be in place until at least Friday, July 9. The restrictions mandate the wearing of face masks in public indoor spaces and a return to the one person per 4m
2 rule in venues.

Michael Peachey died in Gunnedah Hospital on Thursday evening after being tasered and pepper sprayed by police.
A critical incident investigation is currently being undertaken by police which will then be subject to an independent review.
The death of the 27-year-old father has devastated the family and wider community, with his sister Sally Peachey telling NITV News that he was the rock of the family.
“He was more than a brother to me and our siblings. He protected and looked after everyone.” she said.
Mr Peachey was one of eight siblings and a loving father to a 3-year-old boy, Dwayne.
An intense struggle between police and a Gunnedah man is now the focus of an independent review.
At about 8pm, two officers arrived at a home on Herbert Street, after concerns about the behaviour of the 27-year-old.
Police say the man became aggressive when they tried to speak with him.
OC spray and a Taser were used on the man during a struggle with officers, before he fell unconscious.
First aid was given to the man at the scene before he was taken to Gunnedah Hospital where he died a short time later.
A female officer was also taken to hospital where she’s being treated for a bite wound to her right arm and an injured left knee.
