Major tragedy averted; 2 IEDs detected, defused in south Kashmir
SRINAGAR: Security forces on Monday averted a major tragedy by detecting and defusing two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in separate places in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Official sources said that inputs were received that militants were planning to carry out IED attacks in Awantipora in Pulwama. “Acting swiftly, security forces detected an IED in an orchard in village Panzgam in Pulwama on Monday morning,” they said.
“A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was immediately called,” they said, adding that the IED was later defused without causing any damage or loss to life.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces detected and difffused another Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Monday. The IED was planted near Railway link road at Panzgam under Awantipora police station area.
SRINAGAR: Police and security force on Monday detected one more Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, official sources said. They said that second IED was found in Saimu Tral area and later defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad which was rushed to the area.

Two more children who had been injured in an explosion in a multi-storey residential building in Liaquatabad late on Wednesday night breathed their last on Thursday evening, bringing the death toll of the incident to four.
Four-year-old Zain, son of Farhan, and six-year-old Zainab, daughter of Imran, succumbed to their injuries at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said that a total of nine people had been injured in the explosion, adding that Asif Waseem and six-year-old Abdul Hadi had died shortly after the
incident.
SHO Rizwan Patel said that families of five brothers reside in the five-storey building. Experts from the Bomb Disposal Squad had also been called in to ascertain the cause of the incident. According to their initial findings, the explosion had occurred on the top floor of the building situated on a 45-square-yard plot. They believe that the old wiring of the air conditioner had caused
