Volunteers wanted to contribute towards Keighley Pride flag

INTERCULTURAL Communication and Leadership School (ICLS) and Keighley Pride are inviting volunteers to an online event to find out how how they can contribute to Sew Keighley Pride. Sew Keighley Pride will combine almost 300 hand-sewn patches into the Progress Pride Flag to be flown at the Keighley Pride event in August. Volunteer coordinator Sally Stone said: “Everybody is welcome - we have lots of roles for all sorts of skills. We re looking for keen crafters who can work with people not able to make their own patch, social media gurus and ambassadors to help get the word out to the community, and people who are happy to support real life workshops when they re able to happen.

Coin scheme to reward volunteers in Keighley and across the district

A NEW scheme has been launched to reward volunteers in Keighley and across the Bradford district. The initiative sees volunteers receive digital coins, which can then be exchanged for discounts on goods and services at participating stores. People join the Citizen Coin venture via a mobile app. Once registered, they can choose activities to complete and will then be rewarded with coins – which they can use themselves or gift to other people or organisations. The scheme – which is supported by Bradford for Everyone, led by the Bradford Council Stronger Communities team – is open to existing and new volunteers. Councillor Abdul Jabar, Bradford Council’s executive member for neighbourhoods and community safety, said: “People across our district give-up so much of their time to help others and volunteer to make the district a great place to live and work – and this is one way in which they can be rewarded.
