Matthew Amos given warning by Southampton Crown Court judge

Southampton Crown Court. A SOUTHAMPTON Crown Court judge has told a prolific offender to expect no mercy if he commits more crimes. Matthew Amos was spared an immediate jail term for carrying out burglaries but was warned he would face a tougher sentence if he continued to break the law. Judge Peter Henry told the defendant he had an appalling record. He added: You have 33 convictions involving 103 offences. You have displayed a pattern of behaviour which is consistent with a drug user who has been stealing to try to fund his habit. You have committed offences very regularly and persistently.

Hampshire teen broke into family home in dead of night

Sea View Estate Netley Abbey A TEENAGER who broke into a family home in the dead of night has been sent to a youth detention centre. Daniel Lovell stole a watch, a pencil case and a pouch of tobacco from the home on Sea View Estate, Netley Abbey, at around 3am on September 21, 2019. Southampton Crown Court heard that the victim has been left ‘very shaken’ from the break-in. Prosecution barrister Keely Harvey said that the homeowner, who was retired, had awoken after hearing noise coming from downstairs. She had shouted down thinking it was her son, but he then emerged from his own room upstairs to answer her calls.

Man attacked two brothers on night out in Southampton

A MAN launched a violent attack against two brothers in Southampton city centre knocking one of them unconscious. Jack Burgess attacked two brothers who had been enjoying a night out drinking in the city. The 28-year-old punched one of the men with a right hook sending him to the floor in Above Bar Street, a court heard. He then punched the other man in the mouth causing him to fall backwards on September 29, 2019. Prosecution barrister, Aleks Lloyd told that the impact left the man with a large crack in one of his front teeth which required multiple medical appointments.

Man with knives broke into home

Prosecution barrister, James Wing told Southampton Crown Court on Thursday how Soan formerly of Botley Road, Southampton, called the woman repeatedly leaving about 70 messages left on her phone between August and October. “Habitually drunk” these messages included threats to kill her, other people - he even warned that the police would not stop him. Mr Wing told how during an incident in July, Soan had got up right into the woman’s face and threatened her, again claiming he was going to kill himself. A victim impact statement read out in court said how the woman now struggles to sleep, and how her home does not feel safe.
