Macon-Bibb County and Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful (KMBB) have announced a countywide clean-up date for Saturday, July 24.
This will be the organization s second county cleanup day. The first event in March brought out over 1,500 people to clean up trash from Macon streets.
Volunteers collected more than 109,000 pounds of trash.
“It’s incredible to see what our community can do when we come together to keep our streets clean,” Mayor Lester Miller said in a press release. “This initiative can have an impact on public safety, economic development, tourism, neighborhood pride and so much more, but we all have to put in the effort.”

MACON, Ga. Mayor Lester Miller wrapped up his first budget proposal to the Macon-Bibb Commission Tuesday afternoon. He pitched an over $174 million budget for the county for fiscal year 2022 slightly higher than the 2021 amended budget.
Let s start off with what everyone at home wants to know. Will your taxes increase, decrease or stay the same? Good news, Mayor Lester Miller says this year it will stay the same if commission approves his proposed budget.
Now aside from that, the proposed budget outlines the mayor s top priorities from public safety to cleaning up blight.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller announced that volunteer groups collected 109,000 pounds of trash during the community cleanup on April 10th.
Mayor Miller says there is still more work to do, and he wants to hold litterbugs accountable. The county plans on installing cameras where illegal dumping happens frequently.
“Maybe they’ll pay some money,” says Mayor Miller. “But my request to that judge on sentencing day is let them spend time on the side of the road picking up trash.”
Caroline Childs, Executive Director for Keep Macon Bibb Beautiful, says the community cleanup was the biggest community cleanup ever. She says there were more than 80 groups and 1,500 volunteers who participated.
