Bhopal, Jan 6 : While agitations and protests are going on in several parts of the country against the three Central farm laws, the Congress in Madhya Pradesh has intensified its efforts to cement its place among the farmers by supporting their agitation. The party is organising several conferences and protests at different places in the state.
The Congress had announced to lay siege to the Legislative Assembly while opposing the farm laws on the first day of the Assembly session on December 28, 2020 but instead it sat on a silent dharna before the Gandhi statue in the Assembly complex with a toy tractor .
Condemning the police action, AIMIM state unit president Shaukat Ali call it “the death of democracy and abuse of basic rights”.
“The press conference was organised at a hotel in Utraula to announce the candidature of Abdul Mannan, and the event was attended by him and several party leaders. Mediapersons were also invited. Now, they have registered an FIR against us… On December 17, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath organised a Kisan Sammelan and thousands of persons had gathered there. Next day, we had planned to organize a party meeting with 100 persons, but we were not allowed. This is how this government works,” Ali said.

India s first Prime Minister from the farming community was Chaudhary Charan Singh. He would say that the path of the prosperity of the country passes through farms and barns. Today, however, the wall of protest and agitation is standing on the same path. Chaudhary Charan Singh was born on December 23, 1902. In his memory, the National Farmer s Day is celebrated in our country every December 23.
