The first call came in at approximately 2:43 p.m. Saturday when an officer assisted the Jefferson Fire Department and Alliant Energy with a reported leak in the 100 block of East Lincoln Way Street. The area was temporarily closed off and adjacent buildings evacuated until the issue was corrected. In the second incident, the department was notified of the theft of a wallet from the Wild Rose Casino Resort. The casino provided law enforcement with video footage of the event and the suspect’s vehicle information. The subject, 64-year-old John Henry Hironymus of Fair Oaks, Calif., was apprehended in Glidden by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and was transported back to Jefferson. He has been charged with fourth-degree theft, a serious misdemeanor.
