Well, this isn’t what I signed up for. No one told me about this not the Chamber of Commerce, not any of the tourist brochures. You never see “Welcome to Tallahassee: we’ve got tapioca-puddin’ air in the summers and in the spring! Yeah!” You never see, “Welcome to Tallahassee: in a few months, you’ll be able to barbecue ribs on the sidewalk. Ain’t that special?”  So, yes, now we enter what is late spring for some, but summer for us, the Time of Dinosaurs in Tallahassee. Or, as I call them, “useful friends.” Maybe it doesn’t quite rival Jurassic Park, but between the five-lined skinks, the broad-headed skinks, and the green anoles, we’ve got a lot of miniature benign monsters out and about right now. Not to mention the black racers, corn snakes, and rat snakes.
