Tollefson Leads Huskies Over Hi-Liners

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Wahpeton started the second half on a 19-3 to turn a four point halftime lead into a 20 point lead and Valley City never recovered as the Huskie picked up a 83-65 win over the Hi-Liners on  Senior night. Valley City jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead thanks to one of the seniors. Alex Thornton hit a three-pointer and a baseline scoop shot and assisted on Peyton Zaun’s bucket to help the Hi-Liners jump out to an early lead. They would expand that lead to nine at 16-7 thanks to an 8-1 run. But Wahpeton would come back and tie the game at 16, one of ten ties in the first half.

Deacon Boys Cruise Past Hi-Liners

FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jack Pollert lead a balanced offense as five Shanley Deacons socred in double figures in a 77-49 win over Valley City Tuesday night at the Deacon Gym. Pollert had 15 points to lead the Deacons. Connor Kraft had 14 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots. Tyler Kraft had 13 points, Braden DeKeyser had 12 points and Emmet Kenneyhad 10 points. Peyton Zaun had 14 points to lead Valley City. Derrick Diegel had eight points and a team high five rebounds. Jared Eggermont and Andrew Berntson both had seven points and four rebounds. Shanley improves to 8-7 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 8-8 overall. Valley City falls to 5-11 in the EDC and 4-13 overall.

Deacons Surge Past Hi-Liners

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo Shanley pulled away from Valley City with a 34-8 game ending run to pick up a 67-40 win over the Hi-Liners in girls basketball Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center. The first half was a back and forth half that saw no ties but 10 lead changes. Those lead changes were started by Tesa Olson giving the Hi-Liners a 7-6 lead with a three-pointer with 12:59 to go in the first half. The Hi-Liners biggest lead came at 20-16 on Olson’s bucket inside with 7:19 to go in the half. The last lead change came when Shanley took the lead for good on Hannah Hoedl’s three-pointer with 6:07 to go in the half to give the Deacons a 21-20 lead. That was part of a 16-4 run by the Deacons to give them a 32-24 lead. Dylann Diegel cut the lead to 32-27 with a three-pointer with 19 seconds to go in the half.

Hi-Liners Upset South With Strong Second Half

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City used a strong second half on both ends of the floor to pick up a much needed win. The Hi-Liners outscored Fargo South 37-20 in the second half for a 64-48 win. The first half saw four ties and five lead changes, with the last one coming at the end of an 8-0 run by South to end the first half with a 28-27 lead. The Hi-Liners took the lead 27-20 thanks to an 11-4 run. The run was started by Drew Zaun’s three-pointer from the top of the key with 7:44 remaining to make it 19-16 Hi-Liners. The run was capped off by a long three-pointer by Adam Bitz with 4:42 to go. But then South cranked up the pressure defense to end the half and score the last eight points. The last two scored by Khamani Steckler on a inside basket with 1:12 remaining in the half to give his team the 28-27 lead at the break.

Hi-Liners Girls Down The Knights

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Nine players played and nine players scored for Valley City as the Hi-Liners picked up a 58-50 win over Grand Forks Central Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center. Valley City used a 12-3 run in the first half to take a ten point lead and held that lead for their third win in four games. Jadyn Dieterle hit one of two free throws with 7:16 remaining to give the Hi-Liners the lead for good at 17-16. Tesa Olson’s three pointer a minute later extended the lead to four. Samantha Hatcher’s put back bucket with 3:55 to go in the half ended the run to make it 29-19. Hatcher had 11 points in the first half. The Hi-Liners led 35-27 at the break.
