VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City used a 15-4 run to end the first half and a 15-3 run to start the second half on the way to a 66-45 win over Fargo Oak Grove Monday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
After McKenna McIilone hit a three-pointer with 8:45 to go in the half, the Hi-Liners would score the next 15 points to take a 34-20 lead. After trading off baskets, the Hi-Liners led 36-24 at the break.
Valley City cranked up the defense to start the second half. Oak Grove did not score until the 13:21 mark of the second half on Mya Buffalo’s bucket. All total, Valley City started the second half on a 15-3run to take a 51-27 lead. The game was even the rest of the way as the Hi-Liners picked up the win.

HORACE, N.D. This year has been anything but normal, especially for Horace High School’s ninth-grade girls basketball team.
While not an ideal time to start a program from scratch, the Hawks are laying the foundation for a brand new team housed in a brand new school. Kyle Cummings, the program’s first head coach, was expecting maybe six girls to come out for the team. That was quickly bested.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo Davies opened the game on a 20-1 run and never looked back on the way to a 76-51 win over Valley City in Eastern Dakota Conference girls basketball Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
Ryleigh Wacha and Brooklyn Koenig combined for four three pointers and 20 points in the first half. Wacha would add 11 points in the second half for a game high 20. Koenig added 13 and Taylor Fey had 11. Kaden Kerzman came off the bench to grab a team high seven rebounds.
Brooke Eggermont led the Hi-Liners with 13 points and six rebounds. Jadyn Dieterle had 11 points, five rebounds and four assists for Valley City.

Connor Asche scored a game-high 24 points for the Grovers to improve to 1-0 on the season. Asche had 18 points in the first half alone.
The Hi-Liners were paced by Peyton Zaun who had 15 points. Valley City started the game with five three-pointers in the first quarter.
Valley City opens Eastern Dakota Conference play on Friday against Grand Forks Central High, while the Grovers square off with Beulah High School on Monday, December 21.
