Man accused of breaking into home, firing rifle near police car Updated 7:27 AM; A Lancaster County man is facing charges after police say he broke into a home and fired a rifle in the vicinity of a police car. According to East Cocalico Township police, Matthew S. Stoyer, 47, of Denver, Pa., is facing charges of burglary, criminal trespass and recklessly endangering another person. Investigators say they got a call around 5:43 a.m. Saturday from Stoyer’s family, saying he left the home, possibly under the influence of narcotics and in an agitated state. About an hour later, a shot was fired from a home on the first block of North Reamstown Road and in the vicinity of a police car driving by, police say. They took Stoyer into custody without incident.

Denver man charged after breaking into home, firing handgun, rifle: police

A Denver man has been charged after breaking into a home and firing a handgun and rifle he found inside, according to East Cocalico Township police. Matthew S. Stoyer, 47, was charged with burglary, criminal trespass and reckless endangerment, police said in a news release. Officers had received a call from Stoyer’s family stating that he left his residence on Kramer Mill Road while in an agitated state and under the influence of narcotics just before 5:45 a.m. on April 4, police said. Stoyer told investigators he believed he was being chased by people when broke into a home in the first block of North Reamstown Road and found several firearms inside, police said.
