Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go led the unveiling of the Malasakit Center at the Carcar Provincial Hospital.
The Malasakit Center at the Carcar Provincial Hospital, a level one facility with 50 hospital beds, is the sixth in Cebu.
The other Malasakit Centers in Cebu can be found in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (Cebu City), Eversley Child Sanitarium and General Hospital (Mandaue City), St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital (Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital (Lapu-Lapu City) and Cebu South Medical Center (Talisay City).
Overall, there are 23 Malasakit Centers in Visayas, 56 in Luzon and 24 in Mindanao.

In an interview on Wednesday, April 7, Go said that the rising number of COVID-19 cases and the reimposition of ECQ in the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus area had also limited President Duterte’s movement and engagements.
“Pina-postpone rin po ni Pangulong Duterte ‘yong mga plano niyang pag-iikot sa buong bansa dahil kasalukuyang nasa ECQ pa po tayo. We have to respect the ECQ…Siya mismo ay hindi muna lumabas dahil ine-engganyo nga natin ‘yung mga taumbayan na manatili muna sa pamamahay kung hindi naman po importante ang lakad (President Duterte also postponed his plans to go around the country because we are in an ECQ. We have to respect the ECQ. Even the President is not going out because he wants to encourage our countrymen to stay indoors if there are no important reasons to leave their houses),” said Go, Duterte’s former aide.

In a recent interview, Go said that government finance managers still have to identify fund sources and thoroughly assess the financial situation of the country.
He, however, expressed support for any plans in the Senate to tackle the proposed Bayanihan 3, whether through a special session or during the regular session when Congress resumes plenary session on May 17.
Congress will go on a sine die adjournment on June 4.
“Ako po ay sang-ayon d’yan kung may pondo. Sa ngayon po ay binabalanse pa muna nila lahat. Ayaw nila mangako, dahil unang-una, dapat munang ma-identify kung may pondo tayong pagkukuhaan (I am in favor of it if there are funds. Finance managers are still balancing everything. They do not want to make promises, because first of all, we should identify available fund sources),” Go said.

“Karamihan sa private sector ay may sariling direct contact po sa vaccine provider sa ibang bansa (Many in the private sector have direct contacts with vaccine providers in other countries), ” Go explained during a recent interview.
“Sana po makatulong ito, mas mapabilis ang vaccine rollout…Kung makakatulong po sila, it will unburden government procurement, makakatulong ito sa gobyerno na mababawasan ang pinapasan nating lahat (We hope they can accelerate the vaccine rollout. If they can help, it will unburden government procurement, it will help government reduce our difficulties),” he added.
