Consideration of an ordinance allowing for city board and commission member attendance of city meetings by electronic means evolved into a discussion about the importance of attending meetings in person.
Ultimately, the board voted during its regular meeting Tuesday, May 11, to table a decision to gauge input from the public and for more consideration. The authorization for electronic meetings applies to the board of aldermen and any commission authorized by city code.
The impact of COVID-19 last year led to adoption of an ordinance allowing for virtual meetings so board members and staff could attend via Zoom. That authorization expired March 31, and City Administrator Dave Van Dee told the board of aldermen during a September workshop that the board should revisit the issue in light of ongoing COVID-19 concerns, which it did Tuesday night.

Local interest keeps food truck discussion trending in Lake Ozark
Dan Field
Food trucks in Lake Ozark.
Currently, they are prohibited by ordinance. But growing interest from both the public and food truck vendors is keeping the issue on the front burner for city officials.
The Lake Ozark Planning & Zoning Commission spent about 45 minutes during its regular monthly meeting May 5 hearing from proponents of food trucks within the city and discussing the ramifications at length. No one spoke in opposition.
The issue was raised at the commission’s April meeting after the city received several inquiries from potential vendors. Social media was robust with conversation after the Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals car show during which many visitors and residents complained they could not find a place to eat because of the crowds. The social media solution is food trucks.

The City of Lake Ozark has received a clean bill of financial health for the fiscal year 2020.
Lindsay Graves, CPA, of Graves and Associates, presented the annual audit during the regular board meeting April 27.
She noted that the city had sound accounting and financial practices and meets most recommendations for communities of Lake Ozark’s size. One of the most important objectives which the city meets is having between four and six months of operating budget funds available in the various accounts.
She also commented that 2020 was “a good year” for the city financially despite the challenges communities and residents faced last year.
