Mobile man sentenced to almost 12 years for carjacking

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) A man who admitted to stealing a car at gunpoint outside of a dialysis center two years ago will go to prison for almost 12 years, a federal judge ruled Friday.
Chief U.S. District Judge Kristi DuBose sentenced Darrell Bernard Tillman, 25, of Mobile, to 11 years and nine months, followed by three years of supervised release.
Mobile police responded to the carjacking in September 2019 at Fresenius Medical Care on North Catherine Street. Tillman brandished a gun and demanded the victim’s keys as he got out of his 2016 Buick LaCrosse.

Federal drug sentencings announced this week in the Southern District of Alabama include a South Carolina man sentenced to 15 years in prison after being caught with 32 kilograms of cocaine in Baldwin County.
According to the office of Attorney Sean P. Costello, acting U.S. attorney for the district, Frederick Turner, 42, of Bee, S.C., was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Kristi DuBose to 120 months on charges of conspiracy to possess and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and a consecutive 60 months for possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

Grand Bay Man Sentenced to Thirty-Five Years in Prison in Child Pornography Case

United States Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama announced that United States District Chief Judge Kristi DuBose sentenced defendant Bryan Thompson, 44, to 35 years imprisonment on a charge of production of child pornography and a charge of distribution of child pornography. Thompson pled guilty to the charges in December 2020.
According to court documents filed in connection with his guilty plea, in November of 2015, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency was provided with details of a joint investigation between the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department in New Mexico and the FBI. The Bernalillo Sheriff’s Department had been engaged in an online child exploitation investigation and identified a person in Alabama as someone who was trading child pornography online.
