Tradie lowers bar with behaviour in front of cops

Premium Content Subscriber only AN IPSWICH tradesman who refused to give police a breath test has netted himself a jail term and been booted off the road. Adding insult to injury Geoffrey Phillips was told by an Ipswich Magistrate that his behaviour in front of police had lowered the bar of stupidity when he appeared in court on Tuesday. Geoffrey Ronald Phillips, 44, a dad of four from Brassall, was sentenced on six charges that relate to two lots of traffic incidents in Dalby in the early hours of Saturday, November 28 last year. Phillips pleaded guilty to four charges of failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis (roadside and at the Dalby police station); driving when unlicensed; and obstructing police when adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

Ipswich Magistrates Court heard of the ute driver s emotional reaction when she appeared for sentencing. The driver Aimee Leigh Booth, 28, from Redbank Plains, pleaded guilty to drug driving (methylamphetamine) on October 3, 2020; and obstructing police Prosecutor, Senior Sergeant Rebecca McDonald told the court that police intercepted Booth driving a white Ford Ranger ute at 7pm outside a house. She said Booth became quite emotional and began walking towards the door of a house.

Bail refused as woman faces machete, cop assault charges

The list of charges against Philipa Ellen Anne Finn, 22, from North Booval, include two counts of serious assault police by biting/spitting; not complying with the duties of a driver involved in a crash on the Cunningham Highway on November 18, 2020; going armed with intent to break or enter; driving while UIL; possession of a knife in public at North Booval on July 5, 2020; trespass; causing wilful damage; three counts of common assault; going armed with intent to break or enter at Leichhardt on January 13 this year; entering premises by break; contravening a police direction; and failing to appear at court.

Naked bliss short lived for drunken mooner

It was 3am when the officers were confronted by the sight of Trevor Bliss yelling and screaming while standing naked in the middle of a road at Yamanto, a court heard on Thursday. Donning boardshorts and a T-shirt at Ipswich Magistrates Court, Trevor John Bliss, 33, from Yamanto, pleaded guilty to committing public nuisance at Hall Street, Yamanto on October 31, 2020; and contravening a probation order.

Pot stash the cure for overactive brain

Premium Content Subscriber only A POLICE raid uncovered more than 600 grams of marijuana which a man had hidden in different places around his property. The search, aided by a drug detection dog, uncovered a marijuana haul of 624.2 grams. Callum Gillman told police it was all for his personal use, and that he kept it in separate places to avoid sweating on the leaf. Prosecutor Sergeant Brad Dick said a drug detection dog was used to search the property and first located a used water pipe and a brass conepiece in a bedroom. Sgt Dick said large protein container held a set of scales with green leafy residue, and cannabis in a plastic bag that weighed 116.5 grams.
