YOUNGSTOWN Chris Cordero, whose East Boston Avenue home on the South Side was the scene of frequent parties and gunfire last year, police records show, is now facing four felony charges and a five misdemeanors following a Monday night chase and crash. Cordero, 34, and three passengers in his car were taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital Monday night and were admitted to the hospital with various injuries. Police said they observed Cordero’s vehicle swerving among the lanes of South Avenue about 11:47 p.m., then followed him with lights and siren until police called off the chase for safety reasons. Another officer then saw smoke rising from a crash on East Commerce Street downtown and found Cordero and three other occupants of the car injured near the badly damaged car. Police reported recovering a gun and drugs at the scene.

YOUNGSTOWN –The East Boston Avenue home of Chris Cordero, 33, was the focus of persistent gunfire and other incidents last May. Now Cordero is awaiting a decision from a Mahoning County grand jury on whether he will be indicted on drug and weapons charges from last August. Neighbors said last May that they feared for their lives because of how frequently gunfire was taking place at or near Cordero’s home. Police were called there 37 times in 29 days last spring, police records showed. Cordero, who is a rapper, said that he was having a lot of parties, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, and that gunfire was taking place frequently, saying he believed it was because of jealousy.
