It is the nightmare scenario that no community ever wants to experience. The kind of thing we believe could never happen here. On June 23, 26-year-old Daytona Beach Police Officer Jason Raynor was conducting a patrol near an apartment building at 133 Kingston Ave. around 9 p.m. As shown on video captured by his body camera, he approached a parked car. Raynorâs voice sounded calm and level as he spoke with the occupant of the car, who stood up as the officer approached. But for some reason, the man â whom police have identified as 29-year-old Othal Wallace â became agitated. He shot the officer once in the head, less than 30 seconds after the officer first approached him.
