Fisherwomen honoured in Great Yarmouth photography exhibition

BBC News Fisherwomen honoured in Great Yarmouth photography exhibition Close An exhibition, dedicated to the thousands of women who have worked in the fishing industry along the east coast of England, has been unveiled. The work of photographer Craig Easton, the collection is on show at the Time and Tide museum in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. He said: [Fisherwomen] were celebrated back in the day by painters and photographers in the 1800s and really visible on the quaysides and I just thought, so who s doing that work now then? And the answer to that question is still largely women. It features Tracey Dybal, a fishmonger whose father ran a fishing boat for more than 50 years. She described the exhibition as a good record of the industry.

Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery reopens with Turner exhibition

It closed its doors at the beginning of November. To mark the reopening the gallery has mounted a series of exhibitions including one of its famous collection of watercolours by celebrated British impressionist painter JMW Turner which runs until September 18. Pre-booking is not necessary to visit, but to aid social distancing and reduce contact there will be limits to the number of people in the museum and art gallery at any one time. There will be enhanced cleaning, cleaning stations with hand sanitiser, perspex screens have been installed and all staff fully-trained in new procedures and guidance. It is mandatory for visitors to wear a mask/face cover and they will be required to leave test and trace contact details.
