UCHealth closes COVID-19 vaccination clinics, testing centers ahead of storm

El Paso County s Fountain, northern Colorado Springs and The Citadel mall coronavirus testing sites will be closed Saturday and Sunday. Officials expected them to reopen at 8 a.m. Monday. The track of an incoming snowstorm expected to hit Friday is still in flux, with forecasters predicting up to two feet of snow near Monument and possibly a rain and snow mix in Colorado Springs.  The complex storm is highly volatile, complex and difficult to track, but it is not expected to bring the same intense winds and conditions as the bomb cyclone the region saw two years ago in March, said Greg Heavener, with the National Weather Service in Pueblo. Still, residents should be prepared for a high impact storm that could make travel difficult, he said during a news conference Thursday.

Big storm coming to Pikes Peak region Be prepared, local officials warn

Courtesy Timberline Landscaping Brace yourself for a late winter storm that could dump up to 2 feet or more of snow on the region, local officials said at a news briefing March 11. Welcome to March in Colorado, Greg Heavener with the National Weather Service in Pueblo said to begin his remarks. A storm cell that could dump mountains of snow on the area, or only bring rain, is forming off the California coast, and exactly what impact it will bring depends on what happens after it makes landfall, he said. But Heavener warned snow is expected to be abundant and heavy, posing a hazard to travelers, trees and utility lines.
