SEOUL, South Korea, May 24, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Riiid Inc ( Riiid ), a leading AI education company and a member of Born2Global Centre, has raised $175 million investment from SoftBank Vision Fund 2 . To accelerate the pace of capturing opportunities in the global education market, SoftBank Vision Fund 2 led the round as the sole investor, which brings Riiid s total funding to $250 million. It is Riiid s largest funding round to date.

“AI is eating the world of education,” Riiid co-founder and CEO YJ Jang notes in his biographical description on his LinkedIn profile, and today his startup which builds AI-based personalized learning, including test prep, for students is announcing a major funding round to help it position itself as a player in that process.
Seoul-based Riiid has closed a funding round of $175 million, an equity round coming from a single backer, SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2.
The funding is coming at a high-watermark moment for edtech with the shift to remote learning in the last year of pandemic living highlighting the opportunity to build better tools to serve that market, and a number of startups in the category subsequently raising hundreds of millions of dollars to tackle the opportunity. A disputed vote to remove Greg Moon from the Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission was the center of discussion at a two-hour hearing Tuesday morning in a lawsuit challenging Moons removal.
Carroll County Circuit Judge Scott Jackson presided over the emergency hearing at the Carroll County Western District Courthouse in Eureka Springs. Moons removal is just one of several issues raised in the lawsuit, which local attorney Tim Parker originally filed March 10.
Plaintiffs in the lawsuit are Moon, CAPC finance director Rick Bright, group sales coordinator Karen Pryor, former interim executive director Gina Rambo and former special events coordinator Tracy Johnson.
