License for Diamond Jacks Casino Might Move to Slidell The plan to move the Diamond Jacks Casino license from Bossier City to south Louisiana is moving forward. There is a proposal to move the local license to the Slidell area. Citizens of St. Tammany Parish would first have to vote to have the gambling complex built on Lake Ponchatrain in the Slidell area. The State Gaming Control Board would also have to ok moving the license. The Senate Judiciary Committee passed a bill to let the process move forward for a gambling establishment in southeast Louisiana. The vote to move out of committee was 4-3. The bill is now headed to the Senate floor.

Senator Greg Tarver (D) Shreveport Shreveport Senator Greg Tarver is calling out LSU Baton Rouge amidst the sexual misconduct scandal and said they are attempting to skirt attention and place it on LSU Shreveport instead. Tarver said it is clear that LSU Baton Rouge has not even touched the surface of mishandlings. “Not only with the football team but other areas, what they’re trying to do is shift everything to Shreveport and use Shreveport as a scapegoat, and that’s not right nor fair,” said Tarver. Shreveport Medical School Chancellor Dr. G.E. Ghali was placed on leave after allegations of sexual misconduct. Tarver said but the chancellor at the New Orleans has received more complaints than Ghali but was not placed on leave.

Bodi White, R-Central, that would break up the parish parks system and create three new smaller agencies to run parks and recreation in the cities of Central and Zachary and in the prospective city of St. George once it is incorporated. In a fact sheet released earlier this week, BREC says the bill would create additional and unnecessary layers of bureaucracy, risk BREC’s national accreditation status and jeopardize transformational projects that benefit the entire parish like the planned overhaul of the zoo and Greenwood Park by removing about 30% of the system’s revenues.
