SHREVEPORT, La. - State Sen. Greg Tarver of Shreveport went public Monday with complaints aimed at Ochsner LSU Health for reportedly closing the psychiatric ward at the hospital.Â
Tarver based his accusation on a telephone call from various parties alleging the psychiatric ward, also referred to as the 10th floor, was no longer available. He said he was taken aback at such a blatant move with an explanation as to why.
LSUHC is the safety net for mentally challenged patients; that is what you are there for and what you have done for many years, Tarver wrote.Â
But the complaints addressed in a open letter to Chuck Daigle, Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport CEO appear to be baseless.Â
Adrian Perkins recently announced he is running for re-election for another four year term as Mayor of Shreveport. But he will likely have several challengers.
One name that repeatedly pops up is Shreveport Councilwoman LeVette Fuller as a possible candidate for Mayor. She tells KEEL News she is asked that question every day and she is not in a position now to make any kind of decision on a possible Mayoral run. Fuller says she has only been in office for 2 years and her priority right now is to concentrate on the needs of her constituents in District B which includes Highland, Centenary, Stoner Hill and the surrounding areas.
