APPLETON - The trial of a man accused of shooting and killing a woman more than three years ago was delayed Monday morning shortly before jury selection was expected to begin.
Johnny Scott, 62, was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. September 21, 2017, in front of a Canary Street duplex he shared with Annie Ford, 48, and her son. Ford was found in a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds and taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Scott s trial was scheduled to begin Monday and last until Friday, but a pool of potential jurors that had gathered Monday morning for jury selection were told to report back Tuesday morning, according to Outagamie County Judge Greg Gill s office.
Ford s son went downstairs to try to sleep, then heard three gunshots from upstairs and his mother cry for help. When he went to investigate, Scott pointed a gun at his chest and told him, I don t want to do this to you. Go downstairs, the complaint says.
Scott was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and second-degree recklessly endangering safety in connection with the incident.
His trial has been delayed multiple times, most recently when prosecutors turned over additional evidence forensic downloads of phones four days before the case was to go to trial in September, pushing the trial to April.
