Allegheny County Game Warden Zeb Campbell reports an archery hunter was hunting white-tailed deer during the closed season between the regular firearms season and late deer season. The hunter, who believed deer season was open, received over $800 in fines. “A reminder to please read your Pennsylvania Hunting & Trapping Digest,” Campbell said.
Allegheny County Game Warden Zeb Campbell reports February is when coyotes start looking for mates. Coyotes might be seen more often because of these increased movements. If you see a coyote, make a loud noise, and don’t run from them. Running often elicits their natural predator instinct to kick in and they will sometimes chase you. It is the same as running from your dog; a technique often used by trainers to get them to return to you.

Guernsey County Dog Warden Karla Kerns seized 10 dogs and a puppy found living in squalor conditions at a Franklin Avenue residence in Cambridge earlier this week.
Kerns also recovered the bodies of five dead dogs that were reportedly being eaten by the other canines inside the one-story residence.
The dogs were located during a well-being check for the property owner, identified by the sheriff s office as Greg Graham, whose location remained unknown as of Wednesday.
Kerns transported the dogs to the Cambridge Animal Clinic where they were examined by Dr. Hallie Nesselroad before being placed at the Guernsey County Animal Shelter.
Ocala Police Department bids farewell to 2 trailblazing leaders
Ocala Police Department Majs. Robin Ford and Tara Woods have some of the same qualities.
Both are viewed by colleagues as mother figures and as good listeners who offer advice, are always there for moral support, and can be counted on if someone needs help.
Despite their caring demeanors, Ford and Woods also can be tough, not afraid to tell their fellow officers when they re wrong, and occasionally deliver a tongue lashing.
For years, Ford and Woods have known each other and worked side by side. And, rising through the ranks, Woods and Ford understand the demands of the job.

A walk to remember: Ocala hits the treadmill in honor of the late Greg Graham
Along with the usual clients working out, dozens of other people arrived to walk on three treadmills.
The No. 12 treadmill was the favorite of Ocala Police Chief Greg Graham. To the left of the No. 12 treadmill was a treadmill for county and fire. To the right was one for law enforcement.
City of Ocala Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Richie Lietz was walking on one of the treadmills. He s someone I looked up to, Lietz said about Graham. One of Graham s children is a firefighter/paramedic at OFR.
