Mississippi Medicaid balances stewardship with services

Mississippi Medicaid balances ‘stewardship’ with services Executive Director for the Mississippi Division of Medicaid Drew Snyder discusses the Medicaid program in the state at the Columbus Rotary Club Tuesday. Snyder talked about Medicaid’s goals and the potential for expansion in Mississippi. Tyler B. Jones/Dispatch Staff Greg Carlyle Greg Carlyle believes Medicaid saved his son’s life. In 1997, Carlyle’s son, Andrew, was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, something of which his family’s insurance company refused to pay. “Can you imagine your insurance company saying ‘I’m sorry, it’s not covered?’” the Columbus Rotary Club president said Tuesday at Lion Hills Center.

Turning one restaurant into two in downtown Winston-Salem is owner s strategy for figuring out the new reality

One local restaurant owner s strategy for coping with COVID-19 is to turn one restaurant into two. Greg Carlyle has taken ideas from an earlier restaurant at 310 W. Fourth St. and combined them with the concept he had in place when the COVID-19 pandemic struck in March. Local 27101 — Carlyle’s fast-casual concept that focused on burgers for the downtown lunch crowd — is now Local Artisan. Local 27101 closed in March when the pandemic hit and the bulk of downtown’s office workers starting working from home — and not eating out. It never did reopen. But in October, Carlyle came back with Local Artisan. Longtime downtown dining customers will remember that Artisan Millennium Restaurant was in the same spot from 2012 to 2015.
