A Rochester man alleged to have been nearly twice over the legal limit for driving when he crashed into another vehicle, killing a 24-year-old woman in December 2020, made his first appearance in Olmsted County District Court on four felony charges.
Matthew Robert Shaver, 28, is charged with four counts of criminal vehicular homicide. He made his first court appearance Wednesday morning when Judge Lisa Hayne ordered him released on conditions including that he not use alcohol or mood altering substances and that he submit to random testing. Shaver s next court appearance is scheduled for July 29.

Yesterday, I was out running some errands. I was at the Perryville Road and East State Street intersection. I was heading north and stopped at the light. When it turned green, the car in front of me took several seconds to start forward. The automobile also was moving like a turtle.
