INDIANAPOLIS The honors continued to roll in for Colorado freshman
Frida Formann on Tuesday. She added to her collection with the announcement of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association s Tamika Catchings Women s Freshman of the Week, a day after being named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
It is the first time a Colorado women s basketball player has earned the honor.
McKinley Wright IV earned a National Freshman of the Week award during his rookie season in 2017-18.
Formann, bounced back over the weekend after a 0-for-5 shooting performance to start the week at Southern California. The freshman guard from Bagsværd, Denmark, went 7-for-8 from the field in Colorado s win over Cal, setting a season-high with 19 points. She shot 5-for-6 from behind the arc and snagged a season-best seven rebounds. Formann totaled 15 points against Stanford. Wright recovered from the scary fall to score 21 points, including a game-sealing scoop layup with 27 seconds left, and Colorado held off No. 17 Oregon for a 79-72 win on Thursday.
“Big-time win for us,” Wright said.
The senior point guard was fouled driving to the basket late in the first half, slid out of bounds and banged his neck on a seat along the baseline. He pounded the floor in pain before joining the team on the bench and returning to the floor to shoot free throws. Struggling before the fall, Wright caught fire after it scoring all of his points.

EUGENE Matchups of top teams typically feature some premier one-one-one battles and Oregon and Colorado will be no different.
The No. 17 Ducks have two of the top seven scorers in the Pac-12 in forward Eugene Omoruyi (18.7 points per game) and guard Chris Duarte (16.7), who have helped lead Oregon (8-1, 3-0 Pac-12) to an eight-game win streak entering today’s game at the CU Events Center (2 p.m., FS1).
