INDIANAPOLIS — The honors continued to roll in for Colorado freshman
Frida Formann on Tuesday. She added to her collection with the announcement of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Tamika Catchings Women's Freshman of the Week, a day after being named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
It is the first time a Colorado women's basketball player has earned the honor.
McKinley Wright IV earned a National Freshman of the Week award during his rookie season in 2017-18.
Formann, bounced back over the weekend after a 0-for-5 shooting performance to start the week at Southern California. The freshman guard from Bagsværd, Denmark, went 7-for-8 from the field in Colorado's win over Cal, setting a season-high with 19 points. She shot 5-for-6 from behind the arc and snagged a season-best seven rebounds. Formann totaled 15 points against Stanford. She scored five points in the overtime period, including the go-ahead 3 to give put CU in front, 72-70. Formann also had a key block on the defensive end, denying Stanford's chance to tie the game with five seconds to play. Formann rounded out the week with 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
