Dawn Johnson was sent to the Deane House by the electors in Trull, Pitminster and Corfe. The result was announced in the early hours of this morning (Friday) following yesterday s poll. She secured 781 votes to beat off the challenge of county councillor John Thorne (Conservative) and 18-year-old Sam Booker (Labour), who won 583 and 44 votes respectively. After the result was announced, Cllr Johnson said: I’d like to thank all the people of Trull, Pitminster and Corfe for putting their trust in me. I am looking forward to serving and working for all in our local community. The result Gideon Amos, parliamentary spokesperson for the LibDems, said: We are thrilled that Dawn, a real champion for her local area, is joining the LibDem team.
THIS time last year, MP Rebecca Pow was celebrating after winning the Taunton Deane seat for the third consecutive election. Conservative followers broke into rapturous applause as the result was announced at Wellsprings Leisure Centre, Taunton, at 5am on Friday, December 13.
