The following defendant had charges bound to the Court of Common Pleas during a preliminary hearing in central court on Wednesday. Tanner M. Brunner, 28, of New Enterprise, on Feb. 28 was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. State police said Brunner was the passenger in a vehicle stopped along Lincoln Highway in Snake Spring Township about 5 p.m. Nov. 18. Police said several indicators of criminal activity were observed during the stop, and police asked the driver, Matthew Koontz, for consent to search the vehicle, which was granted. During the search, troopers found a hypodermic syringe containing suspected heroin to be tucked between the passenger seat and the seat’s lever, documents said. Police also found a glass tube with burnt residue in front of the passenger seat on the floor. After Brunner was arrested, police found a glassine baggie containing suspected heroin in his shirt pocket, documents said. The hearing was held without Brunn
