Resident presses Council to reverse support on proposed highway

February 18, 2021   ·   0 Comments By ALYSSA PARKHILL Initiative Reporter Caledon resident and environmentalist Jennifer LeForsetier spoke out to Council on Tuesday night about the implications the proposed Highway 413 will have on the community. Leforestier has been involved with the proposed GTA West Corridor highway since 2014, along with several other community members.  The new 400-series highway is being planned to travel from Milton through Brampton and Caledon until it reaches Vaughan. Talks and plans of the new highway have been around since 2006 until all was halted in 2015 for further review, which later got cancelled by the Liberal government in 2018.  It has since been brought back to life by the current Progressive Conservative government where a preferred route was approved by Queen’s Park this past August. King Township, Seneca unite to repurpose historic Eaton Hall

January 21, 2021   ·   0 Comments Written By MARK PAVILONS Historic Eaton Hall will get a new lease on life, thanks to an agreement between King Township and Seneca College. King Councillors gave their stamp of approval on the new deal, which will see the famous site revamped and repurposed. Plans are in the works for Township and Seneca staff to work together, designating Eaton Hall as a municipal capital facility. It will be exempt from taxation and the facility will be available for public use. The college initiated the request to Council and they wanted to use the facility for special events such as weddings, conferences, etc. In order to do so, the building requires substantial improvements.
