Candlelight vigil held to pay tribute to martyred policemen Our crime correspondent Islamabad:A candlelight vigil was organised by Islamabad Police at D-Chowk to pay tribute to martyred cops and express solidarity with their families. The candlelight vigil/demonstration was attended by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat, Advisor to Prime Minister Ali Awan, senior police officials, members of civil society, traders and media representatives. The pictures of police s martyrs , especially portraits having details about their sacrifices and courageous acts were also displayed. The participants lit the candles and offered Fateh for the departed souls of martyrs.

Police to ensure foolproof security on Eidul Azha July 21, 2021 Islamabad:Islamabad police have been directed to ensure comprehensive security arrangements in the Capital on eve of Eid-ul-Azha and ensure implementation on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to contain the spread of coronavirus. These directions were made by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman while chairing a meeting held to finalize security arrangements for Eidul Azha. The meeting was attended among others by DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar senior and officials were present on this occasion. The IGP asked DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar to devise elaborate security plan and monitor all arrangements himself in this regard. He asked to ensure implementation on SOPs issued by the government for business activities at markets, shopping centres, public places and cattle markets. ITP to perform special duties against one-wheelers on Eid

July 21, 2021 Islamabad: Prioritising service to people and accomplishment of their responsibilities, cops of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will perform special duties on Eid day to maintain traffic discipline in the city especially to check stunts of one-wheelers and for religious congregations and at public places. A special traffic plan has been chalked out by SSP (Traffic) Syed Kar Hussain following directions of IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman. Traffic cops will perform their duties at religious congregations and public places to ensure smooth flow of traffic there. SSP (Traffic) has also constituted special teams to check one-wheeling and driving motorbikes without silencers by youngsters on the boulevards of the city. He said special vigilance would be maintained against vehicles having non-pattern number plates, tinted glasses as well non-registered vehicles so as to avoid any untoward incident. ITP would ensure action as per law against the violators.

Speaking by phone with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar was referring to remarks Sunday by Pakistan s Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, who dubbed the abduction incident a conspiracy of the Indian external intelligence agency RAW. Atmar added that Afghanistan is ready to assist the government of Pakistan in the investigation process, arresting and prosecuting the perpetrators and ensuring the security of diplomats.

Police issue security plan for cattle markets, Eid July 20, 2021 Islamabad: Islamabad police have issued a security plan for the cattle markets and the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha so that no untoward incident takes place during the Eid days. The officials said on Monday that over 2,400 personnel of local police would perform duty at the Eid congregations to be held at mosques and imambargahs in the city. SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanveer has said that protection of life and property of the citizens is the priority of the police. He said that the police would ensure security of the homes, especially of those intending to go to their native villages to celebrate the Eid.
