ISLAMABAD: Who will become the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) prime minister– billionaire real estate tycoon Sardar Tanveer Ilyas or veteran politician and former AJK PM Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry?
Had one of the two been beaten in Sunday’s general elections, there would be no doubt that the other would have clinched the top slot. The victory of both has proved that they are strong enough in their respective constituencies to overcome their rivals.
Tanveer Ilyas and Sultan Mahmood remained confined to their constituencies during the poll campaign and could not run the PTI’s electioneering across AJK to present themselves as leaders with electoral appeal throughout the state.

Islamabad, July 26
Prime Minister Imran Khan s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party is set to form the next government in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as it emerged as the largest political party in the legislative assembly election in the region which was marred by allegations of irregularities and violence, local media reported, citing unofficial results.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party (PTI) has won 23 seats while Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was second with eight seats and the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured just six seats, the state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
Muslim Conference (MC) and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Party (JKPP) were successful on one seat each.
