But nothing says âI want to talkâ like missed calls. Thereâs apparently been plenty of those missed calls from Prime Minister Imran Khan but the answer from Narendra Modi has remained âCanât talk, WhatsApp onlyâ.

This refers to the letter ‘Where s unity?’ (Feb 7) by Engr Asim Nawab. It is true that in our country, politicians are unable to create strong relationships with members of other political parties. How can they help Kashmiris break free from the atrocities of India if they cannot join hands for once? How can our leaders who have no idea how to maintain peace and stability in their country be able to build a home for Kashmiris?
On Kashmir Day (Feb 5), all politicians of Pakistan should have had come together to send a strong message to India. They should have told the world that Kashmiris are not alone. Unfortunately, they couldn’t do so.

Pakistan observed the Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5. The day is observed annually since 1990 when late chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed first floated this idea to express support to the Kashmiris. Occupied Kashmir has remained a thorn in the relationship between Pakistan and India since 1947. The two nuclear-armed neighbours have fought wars, and intermittent rounds of talks have failed to break the deadlock.
What changed of late was that India made Kashmir a “non-negotiable” issue after it unilaterally revoked the special status of the disputed territory. The August 5, 2019 move was also in violation of the 1972 Shimla Accord that prohibits both countries from changing the status quo till the final settlement. ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Saturday said the inhuman military siege and communication blockade had today turned Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) into the world’s largest open-air jail.
He said this in a video message to the Ambassadorial Meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir in New York.
The meeting comes when it was announced that the State of New York had declared February 5 as Kashmir-American Day the same day when Pakistan celebrates it as Kashmir Day in solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
“Operating under draconian laws with complete immunity, the Indian occupation forces are committing unspeakable atrocities and grave human rights violations against the Kashmiri people. The whereabouts of thousands of Kashmiris including young boys, abducted from their homes by Indian occupation forces, remain unknown,” he said.
