Chandigarh, Dec 17 : The Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) has felicitated Col Prithipal Singh Gill (retd), the only officer who served in all the three armed forces of the country, on attaining 100 years of age, an official statement said on Thursday.
Sahil Goyal, Deputy Chief of Defence Accounts, along with two other officers visited the veteran at his residence here on December 11 and presented the revised pension orders and a plaque to the veteran on behalf of the CGDA, a statement issued by the Defence PRO said.

New Delhi [India], December 11 (ANI): Colonel Prithipal Singh Gill, who may be the only man to have served in all three defence services the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force turned 100 years old on Friday.
Colonel Gill led a unique and what may be called the only military career of its kind having started as a pilot in the Royal Indian Air Force, then sailing the High Seas with Indian Navy, and finally witnessing the action as a Gunner Officer with the Indian Army in the 1965 War.

In a career spanning nearly three decades, Col Prithipal Singh Gill served as a flying cadet, a Navy officer before finally retiring as a colonel in December 1970.

New Delhi: A World War 2 veteran, Col Prithipal Singh Gill (retd), according to the Army, is the only Indian to have served in all the three wings of the armed forces â Air Force, Navy and the Indian Army.
He turned 100 today.
Col Gill celebrated his birthday with immediate family members and spent most of his time on his rice and wheat farms at his native of Pakhi in Faridkot District. Farming is a hobby that took its course after retirement.
