DINWIDDIE Co., Va. (WWBT) - A Dinwiddie County girl with a big heart is celebrating her sixth birthday by doing six good deeds.
Carolyn “Gracie” Hendricks from Church Roads doesn’t celebrate her birthdays with a party, but rather with acts of kindness.
Her mother says Gracie collects as many birthday cards as she can and for every age she turns, she does that number of good deeds for people in the community. So, with Gracie turning six this year, it was no different.

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WWBT) - The dog affectionately called ‘Peaches’ is expected to make a full recovery after she was found starving and tied to the fence at Colonial Heights Animal Shelter.
Officer Amanda Sverchek said her staffers had found the dog Tuesday morning in near-freezing temperatures.
“She was just sitting there on this thin little blanket, and we were all just in shock who just went and found her that way,” Sverchek said. “It was near 34 degrees out, and she was probably out there for a majority of the night, but we’ll never know how long for sure.”
