The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls soccer team saw their season come to an end Tuesday in the regional semifinal round of the class 1A playoffs at No. 15 Solon by a 3-0 score. The Golden Hawks were looking for revenge after a 2-0 setback against the Spartans early this season. Defenses dominated the action in the first half with neither team able to break through, sending the match to intermission scoreless. The Spartans put together a dominant middle portion of the second half, scoring three times between the 45th and 60th minute with goals coming from Morgan Link, Stella Mesch and Gabby Knipper. The Golden Hawks end the season at 11-6, tying the school record for wins in a season. The Hawks graduate seniors Sidney Davis, Emma Slaubaugh, Katrina Curtiss, Caitlyn Busch, Jenna Miller, Emily Swartzentruber and Rhiannon Panken.

A tied match at half, turned into a lopsided Mid-Prairie win in the second 40 minutes as the Golden Hawk girls soccer team beat area school Columbus in Wellman Monday 7-0. Neither team could find their footing offensively in the first half with the two teams locked in a scoreless tie as they got to intermission. In the second half, the flood gates opened for the Hawks. They scored six of their seven goals in the first 25 minutes of the second stanza including two goals in 30 seconds. Finding the scoring column for Mid-Prairie were Esther Hughes and Julia Boller with two goals apiece and Kaitlin Martin, Evelyn Gerber and Kina Miller with one goal each. Boller added two assists and Katrina Curtiss one. Mid-Prairie scored three times in the game’s first 20 minutes and took a 4-1 lead into half. They maintained control of the match in the second stanza with a pair of insurance goals. Mid-Prairie had 17 total shots on goal as they kept the pressure on the Tigers all night. Esther Hughes scored twice while Sophia Baker, Kaitlin Martin, Lorelei Lueck and Katrina Curtiss all had one goal. Mid-Prairie is now 2-1 on the year. They travel to Cedar Valley Christian Friday.
