LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - McNeese didn’t close out the regular season like it would have liked to after dropping a 60-51 game to Lamar, but the Cowboys learned before tip that they had qualified for the Southland Conference Tournament that will begin on Tuesday at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.
The Cowboys (10-13, 4-10) will be the No. 9 seed and will play No. 8 seed Southeastern Louisiana at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in the first round. McNeese has qualified for the tournament for the second straight season marking the first time since the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Cowboys host Nicholls, Lamar in final two regular season games McNeese Basketball (Source: KPLC) By McNeese State Information | March 3, 2021 at 2:47 PM CST - Updated March 3 at 2:47 PM
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - McNeese Cowboys basketball appears to be peaking at just the right time.
The Cowboys (10-11, 4-8 SLC), winners of three of their last four games, will host first place Nicholls (16-6, 13-2) at 6:30 on Thursday night and will wrap up their regular season on Saturday at 4 against Lamar (7-17, 5-10).
McNeese can clinch a spot in next week’s Southland Conference Tournament before even hitting the floor on Thursday. For that to happen, a loss by HBU (4-17, 3-10 SLC) to Incarnate Word (8-11, 5-7) or UCA (4-18, 3-11) losing to Southeastern Louisiana (7-15, 5-8) on Wednesday night will get the Cowboys’ ticket punched.
